The end of Summer is quickly approaching, and only a few mere weeks remain before our children head back into their classrooms to continue learning. Which means it is time for Park City parents to begin getting their young students ready for a new school year.
In case you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the prospect, here are a few tips to get you back in the game after a long holiday.
Start By Figuring Out Their School’s Start Date
Not all schools around the state start on the same day, and there can be quite a difference between districts. Likewise, different grades often start on separate days, and those starting dates are subject to change. First things first, what day does each child start school this fall?
According to the Park City School District, the current dates have been scheduled:
School begins 1 – 12: August 24, 2016
Kindergarten begins: August 29, 2016
Preschool begins: September 6, 2016
Check the website of your child’s school, and it should have an announcement about any changes in those dates. It should also tell you the day registration begins. All schools in Utah require annual registration of both new and current students, which can be done either at the school, or through the school’s student/family portal.
Know Where To Buy Fresh New Threads
You want your kids to look their best through the year, and the end of summer is the perfect time to start buying new clothes. But while Park City is home to some of the best high end boutiques in the state, do you really want to spend that much money? Your children will have grown out of those clothes halfway through their second semester.
Tanger Outlet is one good option, as they have a lot of name brands for less. They are also offering 25% off coupons until August 21st, and any clearance items and deals.
Another good one is Changing Hands, a local consignment shop. It may seem a little pricey for a second hand store, but the quality of the merchandise is very high.
Be Aware What They Need This Year
Public schools provide the majority of supplies to their students. Unfortunately, many schools are under tight budgets, and teachers struggle to get their students what they need every year. Donations help, but so does making sure your child has what they need going in. That way donated supplies can go to students who need it.
Teacher Lists has a great breakdown of supplies most often used by grade.
Have One Last Hurrah
Summer might have been a bit stressful for parents (that is a lot of down time to account for). Yet, you will probably be quite sad when it is over and your kids go back to school for the majority of the day. Why not have a last little hurrah before the hot months come to a close?
