Chic Kitchen Redesign Trends for the New Year

January 21, 2020 by Jensen and Company

Chic Kitchen Redesign Trends for the New Year
One of the areas of the home you can redesign that can add greater value is the kitchen. As kitchens are often considered the heart of a home, if you are looking to sell your Park City home, it is worth spending some time and money doing some upgrades.

Even if you aren’t looking to sell, you can make some improvements to your kitchen to keep it up-to-date and on-trend.

Bring Some Unexpected Color Pops

Colorful Kitchen

Kitchen trends are starting to move away from color on the kitchen cabinets, but that doesn’t mean that color has been banished entirely. Instead, you can incorporate some unexpected pops of color by having colored appliances.

This trend brings that retro, mid-century modern feel into the kitchen, as it calls back to an era where colorful appliances were more common, rather than the endless round of white, stainless steel and black appliances. You should keep your appliance colors consistent, though, to prevent a jumbled look.

Utilize Open Kitchen Shelves

Open Kitchen Shelves

The days of hiding everything on your kitchen shelves out of sight are over, and trendy open shelves are in.

Okay, you don’t have to pull down all your cabinets and replace them with open shelving. Instead, consider your kitchen’s current wall space. Many kitchens have underutilized walls and lack the shelves you need, which you can fix with open shelves.

These additional shelves can be small floating shelves or longer ones connecting to one of the walls. Once you have these shelves set up, you can finally display that beautiful china, rather than tucking it into a credenza.

Choose Marble Counters For Luxurious Look

Marble Kitchen Counters

Marble has always been an excellent option when it comes to your kitchen counters, as it provides a high-end and luxurious look to any kitchen. While you may not be able to pull off a rustic farmhouse look with marble countertops, there are many other classy styles that you can incorporate with this material.

Also, as the veins of marble create unique, one-of-a-kind patterns, your kitchen will stand out on the housing market among the homes with man-made countertops that all look the same.

Add Drama And Interest With A Marble Backsplash

Kitchen Marble Backsplash

If marble countertops are eye-catching, what do you say to keep the visual impact going and having your kitchen backsplash also marble? Interior designers are in love with how the continuation of the marble countertops into the backsplash gives kitchens greater depth and help emphasize the stunning impact of the marble veins.

If you do decide to go with marble, make sure that it is properly sealed to avoid staining. That way, you can preserve the natural beauty of the material as well as your investment into your kitchen.

Go For Gold With Your Sink And/Or Faucet

Gold Faucet and Sink

Gold has been making its way back into trendy designs, and now in 2020, gold is ready to add drama and luxury to your kitchen. In particular, gold sinks and gold faucet fixtures are the main focus, though the hardware on your cabinets is a good area where you can incorporate gold into your kitchen.

Along with brightening up your kitchen, gold can bring warmth to cooler toned marble, if you choose the more traditional snow-white marble.

Opt For Ash Cabinetry For Warmth

Natural wood tones are also making a comeback, particularly ash. While ash is a lighter wood than the ones you traditionally find in kitchens—like maple and oak—trendy kitchens that have ash cabinets are warmed up even by this cool-toned wood.

Be careful not to have your ash cabinets stained with an oil-based finishing stain, as it will impart a more amber-tone like with maple. Instead, water-white lacquer is the way to preserve the cool ash coloring.

Tuck A Wine Cooler Into The Kitchen Island

Wine Cooler Into The Kitchen Island

Even if you have an excellent wine cellar, sometimes, it can be a little inconvenient to go into it every time you want to enjoy a drink. A nice little luxury you can add to your kitchen this year is a wine cooler.

Most smaller wine coolers can be discreetly tucked into your kitchen island, so you can have easy access without giving up needed floor space in your kitchen. If you do decide to put a wine cooler into your kitchen island, you may want to get a handleless variant, as it can be annoying to get caught as you make your way around the kitchen island.

While you don’t have to make all these upgrades to your kitchen, if a few of them caught your eye, you may want to consider implementing these chic kitchen trends to keep your kitchen modern and fresh.
