Best Time of Year to Bike in Park City

Let’s start off with the basics. There are better times in the year to hop on your bike and ride in Park City. During June, the Summer months begin and so do the outdoor activities such as biking. During this month the outdoors are in fresh bloom and the temperatures are warm. If you decide to head up into the mountains, be sure to bring a light jacket for your ride as the temperature runs a few degrees cooler as you ascend. The long list of trails are perfect for mountain bikes during this time of year.

Now, we know when to ride, let’s explore those epic trails that will excite you during your entire ride.

Deer Valley Resort

With numerous trails to accommodate all riders, Deer Valley is a great place to start your adventures. Deer Valley includes 67 miles of trails winding through the mountains with slopes that will take your breath away and get the adrenaline running. This park is serviced by slope lifts and does require appropriate gear for your safety.

If the deep slopes and small paths are not your riding level, Deer Valley has around five miles of beginner terrain that will still get your heart racing and provide an awesome experience. Jump on the Holy Roller flow trail that is a manmade trail featuring wider and smoother paths for the beginner in us all.

Advanced trails in this park, such as Tidal Wave, include exhilarating table jumps, bumpy terrain, and fast-moving slopes. It’s a great idea to ride this trail a couple times with approaching slow the first time and then giving it your all as you ride again.

Wasatch Crest Trail

The epic Wasatch Crest Trail is sure to be on the must-do list for advanced riders. Famous for its wildflower and mountain scenery, the slopes descend as much as 4,000 feet which is enough to get any rider’s adrenaline rushing to its peak. This trail is so high and deep it is recommended to take a shuttle as far in as you can go and, in order to get back into town, a hike may be required if you choose not to shuttle or ride-assist with a friend.

Recently constructed in Park City, the Wasatch Over Wasatch Trail, also known as WOW is perfect for beginners. The slope declines at a slower pace and is twelve miles long with exit and entry points for those who do not want to ride the entire 12 miles. The paths are a bit clearer than many of the other trails in the area making them easier for a beginner to navigate their way through at their own pace. Enjoy the mature trees, nature, and wildflowers along the way to complete a wonderful day of biking on this trail.

Coyote Canyon

As part of the Wasatch, Coyote Canyon is a flatter trail that will make your legs work hard and give you a sense of accomplishment when completed. Featuring beautiful views of Mount Timpanogos, mature trees and grassland, this trail is easily accessible from highway entry points. The terrain is much flatter than many of the mountain trails making it a little easier for beginners and intermediate riders.
